...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM CDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Cook and northern Lake, IN counties,
including the I-80/90/94 corridors.

* WHEN...Until 200 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be
flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1035 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicate between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen
through the day, with most of the rain falling during the
late afternoon and evening.
- Several area creeks and streams are at bankfull or rising to
near minor flood stage.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
South Side of Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Tinley Park, Calumet
City, Portage, Merrillville, Chicago Heights, Roseland, East
Chicago, Schererville, Hobart, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey,
Highland, Blue Island, Munster, Dolton and Park Forest.

A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor
drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in

* WHEN...Through late Monday night.

* IMPACTS...Swimming conditions will be life threatening,
especially for inexperienced swimmers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions
and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other
shoreline structures.

MORNING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Little Calumet River from IN-912 in Hammond downstream to
confluence with Thorn Creek in South Holland, including the
Munster (Hohman Avenue) gauge.

* WHEN...From late this evening to late Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 12.5 feet, Most areas outside of the levee-protected
area are inundated in Hammond and Munster.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 10.4 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this evening to a crest of around 13 feet tomorrow
morning. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow
evening.
- Flood stage is 12.0 feet.

* IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, Water begins to be diverted through Thorn
Creek Diversion Tunnel.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:15 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 5.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late tonight to a crest of just above 9 feet tomorrow morning
or around midday. It will then fall below flood stage
tomorrow afternoon.
- Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
