...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM CDT FOR SOUTHEASTERN STEPHENSON COUNTY... At 813 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Pecatonica, or 11 miles east of Freeport, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Tornado and half dollar size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Stephenson County, including the following locations... Dakota Dornink Airport and Winneshiek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night. Stephenson County in northwestern Illinois... * Until 200 AM CDT Wednesday. * At 758 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Freeport, Galena, Lena, Stockton, Pearl City, Elizabeth, Cedarville, Davis, Woodbine, Dakota, Rock City, Ridott, Nora, Massbach, Schapville, Buena Vista, Loran, Rock Grove, Oneco and Orangeville. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. At 733 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Nora to Willow to near Massbach, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Freeport, Lena, Stockton, Warren, Pearl City, Elizabeth, Cedarville, Davis, Woodbine, Dakota, German Valley, Apple River, Winslow, Rock City, Ridott, Nora, Schapville, Massbach, Buena Vista, and Loran. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for northwestern Illinois. Remain alert for a possible tornado!
