Lake-effect snow will continue to fall across western and upstate New York Friday with the heaviest band forecast to set up downwind of Lake Ontario, north of Syracuse. The pattern stays active into early next week with multiple clipper systems bringing the chance for snow Saturday night into Sunday and then again on Monday. Travel will be impacted and could become difficult or impossible at times.

No Break For California: More Rain, Snow, Wind, Flooding

There’s no end in sight for the waterlogged state of California, as the active pattern will keep the threat for flooding in the forecast through early next week. Rain will move back in Friday and continue on and off through the weekend. We can’t rule out an isolated tornado Saturday across Northern California and the Central Valley as the system approaches the West Coast. January Thaw: Temperature Roller Coaster Back At It

A ridge of high pressure will develop across the Four Corners and Plains this weekend, allowing places like Denver, North Platte, Rapid City and Oklahoma City to see highs in the 60s. The above-average warmth will spread eastward next week. By Wednesday, Atlanta will be in the 70s and 50-degree highs will push as far north as Philadelphia.
